Volunteer Ethics Teacher Trainers
Date posted: 10-Nov-2011

Position title
Volunteer Ethics Teacher Trainers

Company name
Primary Ethics Limited

Location
Sydney and all over NSW

Remuneration
nil - volunteer position

Company overview
Primary Ethics provides the opportunity for public primary school children (K-6) in NSW who don’t attend scripture classes (SRE) to participate in philosophical Ethics classes. We provide an age-appropriate curriculum and the accompanying learning and teaching materials for Ethics classes via a network of specially trained and accredited volunteers. Primary Ethics aims to develop children’s moral reasoning skills giving them a lifelong capacity to make sound ethical judgments and to act reasonably and responsibly. If you have an interest in helping young people to think about ethics, you can be part of a dynamic and growing not-for-profit organisation by volunteering as an Ethics Teacher Trainer.

Position Description
After attending a two-day Train the Trainer course, our Ethics Teacher Trainers run a minimum of four two-day face-to-face training sessions per year. Training sessions are arranged at the convenience of the Trainer, so this might mean running training over a weekend, over two single days on consecutive weekends or over two week days. Our volunteers live all over NSW, but we mostly run training in Sydney and major regional centres. Expenses are reimbursed. Trainers also develop the content of our online training resources and run chatrooms and online group discussions.

Applicant criteria
To be successful in this role you must be motivated to get Ethics classes established in NSW, have strong adult education/training/facilitation experience, a degree in philosophy, psychology, adult education or training, and strong presentation and communications skills.

Daily access to email and moderate computer skills are also required to use our online learning management system.

If volunteering with us interests you, please visit our website at www.primaryethics.com.au to find out more about us and how you can apply to be an Ethics Teacher Trainer.
