Frequently asked questions

Who is the eLearning: Production & Delivery course for?

L&D and HR professionals, instructional designers, facilitators and teachers who already understand the basics of eLearning and want hands-on skill in producing and delivering it. If you are completely new, start with eLearning: Foundations.

Do I need to complete the earlier eLearning courses first?

No. Foundations and Planning & Design are recommended, but they are not prerequisites. Production & Delivery stands on its own for anyone with some eLearning experience and a basic grasp of learning design.

What will I learn?

How to evaluate authoring tools and learning platforms; how to build content with images, video, audio, screen recording and text to speech; H5P, user-generated content, virtual and augmented reality and AI; the main authoring tools including Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Adapt and iSpring; delivery options from virtual classrooms to Moodle; and how to evaluate an eLearning solution. Your final project is a complete course built with AI.

Do I need my own authoring tool or platform?

No. You get an extended free trial of the OpenLearning platform for the course and a period beyond it, and you evaluate authoring tools using free trials. If your organisation already uses a tool, you are welcome to build your project in it.

How is the course delivered and how long does it take?

It runs over five weeks online. There are three live 90-minute collaborative sessions via MS Teams in weeks one, three and five, plus facilitated self-paced content and activities on the OpenLearning platform each week. You earn an AITD certificate and a digital badge on completion. In-house delivery is also available for teams.

How does this course connect to the AITD Capability Framework?

It is mapped to the AITD Capability Framework at a foundational to intermediate level, building capability in Learning Experience Design. See the AITD Capability Framework for the full set of L&D capabilities.
