Frequently asked questions
Who is the Neuroscience of Learning Design & Delivery course for?
L&D practitioners, learning designers, facilitators and trainers, and vocational education teachers who want to design and deliver learning that works with the brain rather than against it. No science background or prior knowledge is needed.
Do I need to complete Adult Learning first?
No. Neither course is a prerequisite for the other. Adult Learning covers the principles of how adults learn and how to design and deliver for them; this course goes deeper into the neuroscience behind engagement, memory, behaviour and habit. Many people do both.
What will I learn?
How the brain learns and changes, and how to apply that through the five areas of the NeuroEMBED™ framework: creating the right learning environment, building long-term memory with the Sticky8 strategies, managing behaviours and brain states that limit learning, lifting engagement and motivation, and developing new habits that transfer back to work.
How is the course delivered and how long does it take?
Face to face it is one day, 9:00am to 4:30pm, in Sydney and Melbourne. Online it runs as two half-day Zoom sessions, 9:00am to 1:00pm, a week apart. You earn an AITD certificate and a digital badge on completion. In-house delivery is also available for teams.
Who facilitates the course?
Loretta Mitchell, Director of Neu Perspectives, who created the NeuroEMBED™ framework. Loretta has more than 25 years of experience developing teams across Asia Pacific, the UK and the US, and has held national and international L&D and people and culture leadership roles.
How does this course connect to the AITD Capability Framework?
It is mapped to the AITD Capability Framework at a foundational to intermediate level, building capability in Evidence-informed Practice, Facilitating Learning and Learning Experience Design. See the AITD Capability Framework for the full set of L&D capabilities.
