AITD's highest honour, for a lifetime of service.

Life membership is awarded by the AITD Board to a member whose contribution to the Institute and its work has been outstanding and sustained, beyond that of almost all other members. It is the rarest recognition AITD gives, and it is held for life. Our Life Members have given decades of their time, judgement and energy to the Institute and to the learning and development profession, and we are proud to honour them here.

Under AITD's by-laws, any member may recommend another member for life membership. Recommendations go to the Board for consideration. If you know a member whose service to AITD stands out, contact us with their name and a short account of their contribution.

AITD also recognises senior practitioners through the Fellow (FAITD) and Associate Fellow (AFAITD) grades, listed on our Fellows and Associate Fellows page, and celebrates outstanding work each year through the AITD Excellence Awards.
