Speak at AITD Conference 2027
Share your work. Influence the profession.
AITD Conference 2027 — Canberra, 28–30 April 2027
Theme: Impact in the New Learning Landscape - Amplifying the human edge, tech advantage, and strategic influence.
Expressions of Interest will open shortly for practitioners, leaders, consultants, researchers and emerging voices who have something valuable to share with Australia’s Learning and Development profession.
We are looking for practical ideas, compelling case studies, new perspectives and evidence of what is making a difference in contemporary L&D.
Whether you have led a major organisational initiative, tested a new approach, developed a practical solution or generated an insight that could help others work more effectively, we encourage you to submit an EOI.
Why present at AITD Conference 2027?
Presenting at the AITD Conference gives you the opportunity to:
- contribute to the advancement of the L&D profession
- share your work with practitioners and leaders from across Australia
- build your professional profile and credibility
- strengthen your thinking through engagement with an informed audience
- develop new professional connections and opportunities for collaboration
- help others apply your ideas and experience in their own organisations
- contribute to the national conversation about the future and impact of L&D.
The conference brings together professionals from corporate, government, higher education, vocational education, not-for-profit organisations and consulting.
Your experience could provide the practical example, evidence or fresh perspective that helps someone else approach their work differently.
You do not need to be a professional speaker or an AITD member to submit. We welcome established experts, experienced practitioners and compelling new voices.
What we are looking for
The strongest sessions provide genuine value to attendees. They go beyond broad inspiration and give people ideas, approaches and insights they can apply.
We are particularly interested in sessions that clearly explain:
- the challenge or opportunity you addressed
- why it mattered
- the approach you took
- what you implemented
- the results or impact
- what others can take from your experience.
Your proposal should be relevant, clearly structured and grounded in practical experience, credible evidence or research.
Conference themes
Proposals should connect with one or more of the following themes.
The human edge
The human capabilities that become increasingly important as technology advances, including facilitation, influence, leadership, learning culture and human-centred design.
The tech advantage
The effective and responsible use of AI and learning technology, including the redesign of systems, roles and learning experiences and meaningful evaluation of what works.
Strategic influence
How L&D can align with organisational priorities, demonstrate value, influence decision-making and strengthen its contribution at the business level.
Proposals should also identify the area or areas of the AITD L&D Capability Framework to which the session most closely relates:
- Core Practitioner Capability
- Learning Solution Design
- Learning Facilitation
- Evaluation and Impact
- Learning Culture
- Strategy and Partnering
- Operations.

What makes a strong proposal?
A strong EOI will demonstrate:
Relevance
The topic addresses an important current or emerging issue for the profession.
Practical value
Attendees will leave with useful insights, approaches, tools or examples.
Evidence and authenticity
The session is grounded in genuine experience, credible research or measurable outcomes.
Clear learning outcomes
The proposal clearly identifies what participants will understand or be able to do as a result of attending.
Audience engagement
The session is designed to involve, challenge or connect with participants rather than simply deliver information.
A clear and compelling story
The proposal takes the audience through the challenge, approach, action and outcome.
AITD will also consider the overall balance of the conference program. A strong proposal may not be selected where several submissions cover substantially similar topics.
Session formats
We welcome a range of presentation styles, including:
- practical case studies
- concurrent presentations
- interactive workshops
- panel discussions
- short presentations and lightning talks
- research and evidence-based sessions.

Before beginning your submission, prepare:
- your proposed session title
- a short session summary
- a detailed session outline
- clear learning outcomes
- presenter information and biography
- an optional example of you speaking or presenting.
Educational, not commercial
AITD Conference sessions must provide professional learning rather than promote a product, service or consultancy.
Case studies involving commercial products or providers are welcome where they are necessary to understanding the work, but the session must remain balanced, evidence-based and focused on the value and lessons for participants.
Proposals that are primarily promotional or designed to generate sales leads will not be accepted.
Organisations seeking a commercial presence at the conference should consider the separate sponsorship and exhibition opportunities.
Presenter arrangements
Presenting at the conference is a voluntary contribution to the profession.
Confirmed presenters receive complimentary conference registration for the day or days on which they are presenting. Presenters are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
Selected presenters will receive detailed presenter guidelines covering session preparation, presentation materials, audiovisual requirements, timing and conference arrangements.
What happens after you submit?
AITD will acknowledge receipt of your EOI and assess all submissions against the published criteria.
Applicants will be advised whether their proposal has been selected. Successful presenters will then be asked to confirm their participation and complete the presenter acceptance process.
Selection also depends on achieving an appropriate balance of topics, sectors, formats and perspectives across the conference program.
