Branch Banker Learning: A 54% Reduction in Time to Role Competency through Blended Learning

Simon Dewar | Group CEO, BSI Learning

ANZ recruits hundreds of new bankers into the branch network annually. When the business needed to increase new bankers’ speed to proficiency, a new training approach was needed. ANZ and BSI created Branch Banker Learning- a blended learning solution that includes in-branch learning, facilitated learning, coaching and observation. Participants have control over their experience with a digital training plan provided via an online portal. The new program has been a huge success: since implementing the rebuilt program in October 2021, the median time to role competency has more than halved and training cost per banker has reduced by 33%.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
  1. Investing in a digital learning audit can reap significant rewards through getting learners up-to-speed faster and/or through making learning time more effective. We’ll show you one way to audit your organisation’s digital learning and analyse available evaluation data for greater effectiveness.
  2. Consider how the format of your training can be made flexible for part-time and busy employees. Branch Banker Learning consists of two training modalities tailored to suit employees’ work rhythms.
  3. Learning designs need to be agile and responsive to changing organisational requirements. Blended learning solutions with repurposable learning assets (e.g. microlearning modules, coaching guides, online facilitated learning etc) creates a design that can be easily modified as organisational needs change.
