The state of emotional culture (NSW Division)
Decreasing consumer confidence, ongoing economic uncertainty, and underperformance fears are creating a challenging business environment for C-Suite execs. Workloads, high cost of living, and job insecurity related to AI are taxing employees. All of this is having an emotional impact on us and fuelling a decline in Australian productivity. Productivity growth has gone negative since the pandemic and over the past six years has averaged just 0.6 per cent per annum.
During this time Dr Ben Palmer, FAITD, been measuring the emotional culture of Australian businesses, collecting data on the emotions people have been experiencing, what they expect to experience emotionally at work, and what, ideally, they’d like to experience. The results provide fascinating insights into the impact this business environment has been having and shed light on what can be done to improve productivity and thrive in these challenging times.
At this event Dr Palmer will share insights from his Emotional Culture Inventory detailing the state of emotional culture within business and how it links to productivity and our lived experience of the world at work.
Mel Neil will then share her work on thriving in challenging times, and discuss the impact actions that improve the way people feel at work can have on productivity and other important business outcomes.
Presented in partnership with Cliftons.
